{"id":467,"date":"2023-12-07T09:17:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-07T09:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/?p=467"},"modified":"2023-12-07T09:17:00","modified_gmt":"2023-12-07T09:17:00","slug":"danyon-hume-joins-the-berwick-bandits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/danyon-hume-joins-the-berwick-bandits\/","title":{"rendered":"Danyon Hume joins the Berwick Bandits!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Danyon Hume is the third rider unveiled by Berwick team manager Stewart Dickson.<\/p>\n<p>He joins Rory Schlein and Lewis Kerr as confirmed starters in the Bandits\u2019 2024 Cab Direct Championship campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old Buckinghamshire-born racer was a Championship double winner with Poole in 2021, and also collected a Premiership runner-up medal in Ipswich colours last year in addition to captaining Leicester\u2019s 2019 National Development League double winning side.<\/p>\n<p>After making his NDL debut for Rye House Raiders in 2015 he has also ridden for Glasgow, Birmingham and, in 2023, Redcar, and been a consistent scorer around the pacy Berwick bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Hume previously guested for the club in 2021, scoring paid ten during an eventful KO Cup defeat against Glasgow at Shielfield after the home side lost both Jye Etheridge and Danni Gappmaier in a heat one crash.<\/p>\n<p>Dickson said: <em>\u201cDanyon Hume is an exciting rider with an impressive record around Shielfield Park and I\u2019m confident 2024 will be a big season of progress for the lad. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cEstablishing a side of riders who can improve on their starting average will be very important next season and Danyon is very capable of doing just that and I am excited to work towards getting the best out of him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_468\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-468\" style=\"width: 1140px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-468\" src=\"https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Humetightcrop.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1140\" height=\"1886\" srcset=\"https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Humetightcrop.jpg 1140w, https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Humetightcrop-181x300.jpg 181w, https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Humetightcrop-619x1024.jpg 619w, https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Humetightcrop-768x1271.jpg 768w, https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Humetightcrop-928x1536.jpg 928w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1140px) 100vw, 1140px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-468\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image by Ian Adam<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With four riders still to reveal preparations for the new season are continuing apace behind the scenes. Season passes &#8211; \u00a3199 for 12 home fixtures \u2013on sale via the club website. Each one sold before close of business on 24 December will go into a Christmas Day draw with the winner having his or her money reimbursed.<\/p>\n<p>The club is also in the middle of a major sponsorship drive to ensure that the club remains on a sound financial footing.<\/p>\n<p>Co-owner Scott Courtney, who is driving the campaign, said: <em>\u201cAs the last surviving small town British speedway club we do a mega job selling our sponsorship and advertising packages.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe simple fact is that we have to as it is the only way a club with Berwick\u2019s small catchment area \u2013 not to mention one in which families have been especially hard-hit by the on-going cost of living crisis and low wages \u2013 can compete with the\u00a0 Edinburgh, Glasgow, Plymouth, Poole, and Oxfords of the Cab Direct Championship.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOur valued sponsors and advertisers, in addition to the club\u2019s monthly 5-1 Draw ensure that we not only can enter the Championship but that we can put out a competitive team on-track.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Details of sponsorship and advertising opportunities, which begin from \u00a3300, are available by emailing club@berwickspeedway.com<\/p>\n<p><strong>Words and Feature Image by Berwick Speedway<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Danyon Hume is the third rider unveiled by Berwick team manager Stewart Dickson.
