{"id":3531,"date":"2025-07-10T09:15:02","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T09:15:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/?p=3531"},"modified":"2025-07-10T09:15:02","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T09:15:02","slug":"liebmann-all-set-to-defend-fim-womens-speedway-gold-trophy-in-croatia-preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/liebmann-all-set-to-defend-fim-womens-speedway-gold-trophy-in-croatia-preview\/","title":{"rendered":"Liebmann all set to defend FIM Women\u2019s Speedway Gold Trophy in Croatia &#8211; Preview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An international field of riders from seven countries and two continents will contest the 2025 FIM Women\u2019s Speedway Gold Trophy (WSGT) this coming Saturday (12 July) at the immaculate Stadion Milenium in Donji Kraljevec, Croatia.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Speedway\u2019s leading ladies contest 2025 FIM Women\u2019s Speedway Gold Trophy<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>German star Celina Liebmann aims to double up in Donji Kraljevec<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Can Dutch dynamo Nynke Sijbesma upgrade to gold this time around?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><p>\nBuilding upon solid foundations laid down by last year\u2019s successful inaugural event at Teterow in Germany, the second edition is supported by HKC Koopmann, Kineo and Anlas and takes place the day after the conclusion of the 2025 FIM Women\u2019s Speedway Academy attended by all WSGT competitors.<\/p>\n<p>Promoting gender inclusivity and encouraging diversity, the WSGT is a product of the ongoing and successful collaboration between the FIM Track Racing Commission (CCP) and the FIM Women\u2019s Commission (CFM).<\/p>\n<p>The thirteen competitors will each contest four Heat races to decide the line-up for the Grand Final with seven riders from 2024\u2019s first edition returning for a second attempt at the title and aiming to use last year\u2019s hard-won experience at Teterow to full effect.<\/p>\n<p>Among the pre-event favourites is defending champion Celina Liebmann from Germany who was in dominant form last year, remaining unbeaten throughout the competition. The twenty-four-year-old is one of women\u2019s Speedway\u2019s leading lights with a string of accolades to her name and was the first female competitor to race an FIM Speedway Under 21 World Championship (SGP2) event and the first woman to sign for clubs in Great Britain and Poland.<\/p>\n<p>However, she will face fierce opposition with Dutch racer Nynke Sijbesma \u2013 who was second last year in Teterow and has experience of contesting the FIM Long Track Under 23 World Cup \u2013 expected to feature among the front runners, as is Germany\u2019s Jenny Apfelbeck who also made the cut for last season\u2019s Grand Final.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3533\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3533\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3533\" src=\"https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/57cc78f5-0453-bccb-f2fe-39b7112bd704-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/57cc78f5-0453-bccb-f2fe-39b7112bd704-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/57cc78f5-0453-bccb-f2fe-39b7112bd704-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/57cc78f5-0453-bccb-f2fe-39b7112bd704-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/speedwayhub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/57cc78f5-0453-bccb-f2fe-39b7112bd704.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3533\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hannah Grunwald at 2024 FIM Women&#8217;s Speedway Gold Trophy, Germany \u00a9 Jesper Veldhuizen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Another competitor from last year, Britain\u2019s Rachel Hellowell claimed two Heat wins in the 2024 WSGT, but ended the meeting one point short of qualifying for the Grand Final, as did Germany\u2019s Patricia Erhart who will also be in action in Donji Kraljevec.<\/p>\n<p>With the German pairing of Mascha Schwend and Hannah Grunwald completing the list of returning racers, the remaining entry will be experiencing WSGT competition for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Teenaged talent Alina Sassenhagen, who has raced alongside Liebmann this season for the Friesian Lions team in her native Germany, will be joined behind the tapes by the Danish pairing of Katja Stoffer Jorgensen and Louise Funch Larsen. Polish hopes will rest on the shoulders of Martyna Mro\u0301z while Slovakia will be represented by Anna Hajkova\u0301.<\/p>\n<p>Furthest travelled of the competitors, Australian Tayla Street is a three-time national champion who at the very least will be aiming to emulate her compatriot Anika Loftus who finished third last season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The action from Donji Kraljevec is scheduled to get under way at 15:30 local time.
